Sirius Black was born on November 3, 1959 from Orion and Walburga Black.il has never been married. Sirius does not share the opinions of the Black family, an old line of proud blood sorcerers, considering this as a nobility, and overall agree with Voldemort's ideas. Sirius was the only one in his family to be in the Gryffindor house, his whole family was in the Slytherin house. He died on June 17, 1996 in the Death Hall, in the Mysteries Department, killed by Bellatrix Lestrange.
Sirius is James Potter's best friend. With Remus Lupine and Peter Pettigrow, they form the group of marauders. At 16, Sirius fled from the family home he hated to go to live at James. His mother Walburga never forgave him and denied him. He was arrested by muggle police for speeding (episode told in prologue to Harry Potter ). A year later, the marauders finished their education. James married Lily Evans, Sirius is his witness, and in 1980, during the birth of Harry, he will become his godfather.
The same year, the war against Voldemort already started. The marauders and Lily belong to the order of the Phoenix. The Potter family is in danger because Voldemort discovered a prophecy targeting their son Harry. They cloistered with them at Godric’s Hollow thanks to the Fidelitas spell and make Sirius Black their keeper of secret. Therefore, he is the only one to know their hiding place. However, Sirius finds the idea too obvious for Voldemort to think about it and convinces them to take Peter in place. The latter, having already gone on the side of Voldemort, reveals the hiding place of James and Lily, which allows him to kill them.
Sirius, suspecting the plan, goes to Peter to check that he is safe but his hiding place is empty. He then flies to Godric’s Hollow on his flying motorcycle and discovers the disaster. Hagrid, sent by Albus Dumbledore to collect Harry, follows Dumbledore's instructions and refuses to entrust the child to Sirius. Sirius then gave him his motorcycle and then he went in pursuit of Peter. He gets him stuck in a street full of muggles. Peter shouts then that Sirius killed James and Lily then he caused an explosion which killed a dozen muggles, cuts off a finger to make believe that Sirius killed him and fled by the sewers, in his rat form. Sirius was then arrested without any resistance from him. Barty Croupton Sr. sends him to Azkaban without granting him a trial for the murder of Peter Pettigrow and twelve Muggles.
In Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban , while Sirius is imprisoned in Azkaban, he recognizes Peter Pettigrow in his rat form in a newspaper and decides to escape to kill him. At the end of the volume, he managed to bring together in the howling Ron, Hermione and Harry and explains to them what really happened. Harry, always believing Sirius responsible for the death of his parents, refuses to believe that Criûtard, Ron's rat, is the animal form of Peter Pettigrow. It was then that Remus arrived in the hut and embraced Sirius, Remus having been able to see the name of Peter Pettigrow on the marauder's map, he deduced that he was still alive. They are then interrupted by Severus Rogue that Harry puts out of harm. The two marauders then make its human form to Peter and Harry accepts the truth. It prevents Sirius and Remus from killing Peter and decides to deliver it to the critics. However, Remus having not taken his killing potion, turns into a werewolf and confusion, Peter succeeds in transforming into rat and escape. Sirius therefore loses any chance of rehabilitation and is taken prisoner at Hogwarts while waiting for the critics. Going back in time thanks to Hermione's time turner reverser, Harry and Hermione succeed in saving Sirius from the kiss of the cracker who consists in sucking his soul, and Sirius flies to the back of the hippogriffe Buck, also saved this Night.
In Harry Potter and the Fire Cup , Sirius hides in a tropical region, far from the critics. He regularly corresponds with his godson Harry, for whom he has a lot. When he learns that his scar hurts, Sirius decides to return to the North, for Harry, to the dismay of this one. Sirius is still actively sought by the Ministry of Magic. He hides with Buck in a cave near Pré-au-Lard. He gives Harry information and advice throughout the year. After the rebirth of Voldemort, Sirius is present when Harry recounts his evening in the office of Dumbledore and watches over him at the infirmary. He then left Harry to contact the former members of the order of the Phoenix according to the vow of Dumbledore.
In Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix , Sirius made available to the order of the Phoenix the house of the 12 Square Grimmaurd in which he spent his childhood so that she would become the headquarters. In Harry Potter and the death relics , while Harry heads for a certain death, he uses the resurrection stone to make his parents, Remus and Sirius appear. They then appear less solid than a living human but more real than a ghost. The four of them have a young, happy and serene appearance.
Sirius Black is interpreted in the cinema by Gary Oldman and James Walter, who plays the role of the 17 -year -old Sirius.
