He has long, tangled black hair and a bushy beard that hides most of his face. He is endowed with phenomenal strength. In the original version, Hagrid has a rather particular accent made of elision and deformation. Hagrid is very sensitive and sentimental by nature and he cries easily. Hagrid usually wears a long beaver or bearskin coat or a heavy mole-hair overcoat full of pockets. For "big occasions", he often wears a brown suit with an ugly yellow tie.
Hagrid has a preference for the most dangerous magical creatures possible, including a dragon he spawned in his home and named Norbert, a three-headed dog who guarded the Philosopher's Stone named Fluffy, an Acromantula he named Aragog , the hippogriff Buck and some firecracker Scroutts. He is able to see Thestrals. In fact, he has little interest in docile magical creatures, although he does have a cowardly hound named Crockdur as a pet.
Hagrid lives in a small, custom-built, one-room wooden house on the edge of the Forbidden Forest.
